Safety boundary

Do not leave protruding screws, sharp edges or a taped ridge in a travel path. Maintain safe accessible routes and required exits.

What to check first

Bring these

  • Wet-floor signs and barrier kit
  • Tape measure
  • Screwdriver set
  • Compatible floor-transition profile

Step-by-step procedure

  1. 1Protect the routeGuard the defect and provide a usable alternate route. Remove an unsecured loose mat when this can be done safely and without exposing another hazard.
  2. 2Identify why it movedLook for missing fasteners, broken profile edges, moisture, worn backing or repeated cart impact. Photograph the condition before removing material.
  3. 3Match the repairMeasure both adjoining finishes and identify the original attachment method. A replacement must suit the flooring and traffic; do not drill until concealed services and substrate hazards are assessed.
  4. 4Repair within scopeHave qualified staff correct the substrate and install the compatible profile according to its instructions. Tape may identify an area temporarily but is not a permanent repair for a lifted strip.
  5. 5Walk and roll the routeCheck that the completed transition is secure and presents no catching edge to expected users and carts. Record a follow-up check after normal traffic resumes.

Leave a useful maintenance record

Record the exact location, observed condition, time, actions taken, person contacted and follow-up owner. Keep unresolved items visible. A completed checklist means the check was performed; it does not automatically mean the equipment passed or is safe.
